| Located in Central and Western District, Tainan City, Taiwan. Its predecessor was the Proventië city street built in January 1625 during the Dutch rule, Dutch: De Stadt Proventië. It was a European-style fortress built in the Chikan Province in 1653. It was completed in 1655 and was called Proventië City. (Dutch: Fort Provintia, literally meaning provincial capital), known to locals as Hoan à Lâu (Taiwanese: Hoan à Lâu), was once the commercial center of the entire island of Taiwan. It collapsed in the Qing Dynasty, leaving only Partial remains. |
