Renowned poet of the Beat Generation, Allen Ginsberg, signs an autograph for a fan at a reading and performance in Jerusalem, Israel, on January 22, 1988. Born Jewish and a practicing Buddhist, Ginsberg gained recognition for his epic poem, `Howl.` He was an open homosexual and was a creative non-conformist opposing militarism, imperialism, and the Vietnam War.
