Although documentary dated to XIII century, the archeologists discovered elements revealing that the Densus church was built in the II century after Christ, of river rocks, bricks with roman inscriptions, funerary monuments and aqueducts. The church houses the funeral monument of the Roman General Longinus, best friend of Traian, the conqueror of Dacia. Some researchers believe that Densus was a heathen temple, built by General Longinus. After his death in 105-106, his wife, Afrodisia, discovered the Christ, and in sign of recognition, Christianized the temple by raising the dome and the altar of the first church from Hateg and maybe the from the whole country. Others dates the hcurh to Xth century.
