Perched majestically on a hill overlooking Lake Geneva in the Haute-Savoie region of France, the medieval castles of Allinges are a remarkable historical site. Uniquely, there are two distinct castles, Château Vieux (Old Castle) and Château Neuf (New Castle), standing only about 150 meters apart, whose ruins bear testament to centuries of rivalry and conflict between powerful regional families, particularly the Counts of Savoy and the Lords of Faucigny.
