| Dying Achiles sculpture in the garden of the Achilleion Palace on a Greek island of Corfu. The palace was built in 1890 by Empress of Austria Elisabeth. Designed by Italian architect Raffaele Caritto. The main theme of the palace and surrounding garden is mythical Achilles. His monument - as guardian of the palace - can be seen in the background. One of the landmarks of Corfu Kerkyra. The sculpture was created in Berlin in 1884 by the German sculptor Ernst Herter. |
