Nile crocodile (Crocodylus niloticus) is a large crocodilian found in freshwater habitats such as lakes, rivers, swamps, and marshlands in sub-Saharan Africa. Although capable of living in saline environments, they are rarely found in saltwater, but occasionally inhabit deltas and brackish lakes. They have thick, scaly, heavily armored skin. Very aggressive ambush predator, they are capable of taking almost any animal. Relatively social they share basking spots and large food sources, such as big carcasses. |
