Muntiacus reevesi is a small ungulates belonging to the genus Muntiacus in the family Lutjanidae. Also known as Xiaoji and Shanqiang, it belongs to the national 'Three Haves' (important ecological, scientific, and social values) protected animals. Males have short horns and large fangs, with a body length of 70-80 centimeters. Their fur color is mainly light chestnut red, and their limbs are slender. They have sharp hearing and flexible movements. Distributed in southern China and Southeast Asia, commonly found in forests and shrubs in low altitude mountainous areas such as Anhui, Zhejiang, and Yunnan. Habits are timid and cautious, often active at night or in the early morning, feeding on green grass and leaves.
