This plant has shown clear differentiation between nutrient absorbing organs and photosynthetic organs but does not yet have true roots and leaves. This group of plants also do not have true vessels. Instead of roots, their nutrient-absorbing organs are rhizoids & x28;literally & x22;root-like& x22;& x29;. Moss plant leaves can photosynthesize. Mosses are pioneer plants, which grow somewhere before other plants can grow. This happens because moss plants are small but form colonies that can cover a large area. Dead plant tissue becomes a source of nutrients for other mosses and other plants. In everyday language, the term & x22;moss& x22; can refer to several divisions. The old classification also combines liverworts and hornworts into Bryophyta, so that in Bryophyta are included hornworts, liverworts and true mosses & x28;Musci& x29;. However, developments in plant taxonomy indicated that this amalgamation was paraphyletic, so it was decided to separate the liverworts and hornworts out of the Bryophyta. In the world there are about 4,000 species of moss plants & x28;including liverworts& x29;, 3,000 of which grow in Indonesia.[1] The Cibodas Botanical Garden in West Java has a & x22;moss garden& x22; which collects various mosses and liverworts from various regions in Indonesia and the world.
