In front of the south portal of St. Thomasââ¬â¢s Church in the City of Leipzig stands the 2.45m high statue of Johann Sebastian Bach. Bach was one of the most famous composer, organist, harpsichordist and violist in Germany. Bach lived from 21 March 1685 until 28 July 1750. In 1723, Bach was appointed Cantor of the Thomasschule at St. Thomas Church in Leipzig, as well as Director of Music in the principal churches in the town. |
