| Wasaga Beach's shoreline on Georgian Bay in Ontario is littered with Zebra Mussel shells. An invasive species introduced in the 1980's, the mussels have harmed the ecosystem of the bay in significant ways from affecting the food chain, damaging water intake infrastructure and causing nuisance hazards at beachfronts. Wasaga Beach is the world's longest freshwater beach with over 14 kilometres of shoreline. |
