Portrait of a Young Peacock, on a wall around my house. Photo taken in rural Punjab, India. Peacocks and Peahens are very commonly seen. Peafowl is a common name for three bird species in the genera Pavo and Afropavo of the family Phasianidae, the pheasants and their allies. Male peafowl are referred to as peacocks, and female peafowl as peahens.Male peafowl are known for their piercing calls and their extravagant plumage. The Indian peacock has iridescent blue and green plumage, mostly metallic blue and green.
