| The A593 road from Coniston to Ambleside passes directly along the east side of Yew Tree Tarn, one of the smallest lakes in the Lake District. The tarn is well sheltered from the prevailing weather by heavily wooded slopes and so is usually very calm, with great reflections in the water. |
