A trail blaze or marker helps a hiker know where they are currently, and where they need to go next. One blazer or colored marker tells a hiker where they are and on which trail, i.e., the yellow trail, in this case; two blazes are meant to tell you which trail to take. In this photo, the hiker is meant to keep to the far right on the trail. Three blazes as markers is unusual, as far as I can tell. |
