| Windmills emerged in the La Macha region in the mid-16th century as an alternative to the shortage of water mills caused by the climate and orography of the place.The Cerro de San Antón is a small Paleozoic elevation that rises above the plain of La Mancha, located southeast of the municipality of Alcázar de San Juan. Four of the nineteen historic windmills are currently preserved. These have been rehabilitated and adapted to different uses, preserving their original dimensions and finishes. |
