On the rising, rocky outcrop leading to the airfield at Olare Orok Conservancy, bordering Masai Mara, Kenya, there is a veritable forest of Whistling Thorn Acacia trees. The tree in this photograph is laden with corms. Each corm has spikes coming from it and nearly all have a hole in the corm. The holes have been made by Cocktail Ants, aka Valentine Ants or Acrobat Ants. |
