Camp Westerbork in the east of the Netherlands (Drenthe) was a transit camp in World War 2. Some 102.000 people, mostly Jewish, did not survive after being sent from there by railroad to the notorious Nazi death camps in Germany and Poland. Anne Frank stayed in Westerbork before being deported to Auschwitz. The camp is now a museum and monument, where school groups and many other visitors from around the world learn about the horrors of the Holocaust. A collection of 102.000 bricks and a railroad buffer block at the end of the track honor the victims. 1 photo of 5
