The Old Market of Stralsund in Mecklenburg-West Pomerania in Northern Germany is surrounded by the church of St Nicholas. The entrance to the St. Nikolai Church Stralsund is located in the east corner of the Old Market and is somewhat hidden. Since 1980, the church has been restored to medieval specifications. The church was started in the year 1234, when Stralsund received its city rights, and from 1270 it could be used for fairs. This makes St. Nikolai the oldest of the three churches in Stralsund.
