American director and screenwriter Wes Anderson arrives outdoors on a chilly January evening, as he prepares to attend the National Board of Review Awards Gala celebrating films released in 2009. The event was held at Cipriani 42nd Street in midtown Manhattan on January 12, 2010. Anderson has gained a following as a creative original filmmaker with a unique style. He has received 7 Oscar nominations and is particularly renowned for `The Royal Tenenbaums,` `Moonrise Kingdom.` and `The Grand Budapest Hotel.` On this evening he was presented with the Special Filmmaking Achievement Award for the animated feature `The Fantastic Mr. Fox.` Anderson is accompanied by Juman Malouf who was born in Lebanon and grew up in London before getting an MFA from Brown University and a graduate degree from the Tisch School of NYU. She is a costume and fashion illustrator and designer and a novelist.
