American band leader Lawrence Welk, who was active on radio and later television from the 1920’s to the early 1980’s, was born in 1903 and grew up on the Welk family farm. The family built a mud brick house in 1899 and later built this barn on this six acre state historic site in Lawrence Welk`s birthplace at Strasburg, North Dakota.
