The complex of twelve houses was built in 1707 by the Cistercians from Krzeszów for cloth weavers from the Czech Republic. It was a period of dynamic development of the city focused on flax cultivation, thanks to which Che?msko ?l. it became an important center of cloth and linen production and trade in these products - the products were sold not only in Europe, but also in America. The Cistercians from Krzeszów brought linen weavers from the Czech Republic, for whom in 1707 they built a complex of twelve arcaded houses, today called the Twelve Apostles.Until modern times, the houses that stand on S?decka Street have retained their characteristic layout: protruding gables and arcades covering the entrance, and people still live in them today.
