| Here`s the Walnut Street Bridge looking north from downtown Chattanooga toward Coolidge Park. The bridge was opened in 1891 and was closed to automobile traffic in 1978. About a decade later it was re-opened as a pedestrian bridge. The bridge and the Tennessee Aquarium are credited with the re-birth of Chattanooga. What was once a grimy industrial town has been transformed into a go-to destination. |
