The Avignon Bridge in French, Pont d`Avignon, also known as the Pont St-Bénézet, is a famous medieval bridge over the Rhone River; It crossed from the city of Avignon to Villeneuve-lès-Avignon, in the south of France. It is currently in ruins and only part remains standing. It has been part of the World Heritage Site since 1995, along with the Palace of the Popes, the cathedral and Petit Palais, in addition to the old city walls. It represents the technical development reached in the 12th century, and is also known for the famous French song Sur le pont d`Avignon.
