| Bristol was already in existence in the early middle ages as a major trading centre and port. The Normans would build a castle here and John Cabot would sail from Bristol to discover Newfoundland in 1497. Bristol would become the second port in England, rivalling London. Bristol is a major city in south west England, the location of festivals and music concerts. |
