The Villa de Maderuelo, like its neighbor Ayll n, is a Historical-Artistic Complex to which we must add a magnificent natural environment. It is located on a large hill, surrounded by the Linares reservoir. It is the beginning of the Hoces del R o Riaza. In the 10th century the town was repopulated by the Castilian count Fern n Gonz and later sacked by the armies of Almanzor. A century later, building a wall and castle, Castro Maderolum was created, with people from Burgos. Already in the 12th century it was annexed to the bishopric of Segovia.
