The Citadel of Cairo or Citadel of Saladin is a medieval Islamic-era fortification in Cairo, Egypt - now a preserved historic site - including mosques and museums. The Great Mosque of Muhammad Ali Pasha or Alabaster Mosque is an Ottoman mosque situated on the summit of the Citadel of Cairo in Egypt; with its animated silhouette and twin minarets, is the most visible mosque in Cairo. It’s one of the landmarks and tourist attractions of Cairo and is one of the first features to be seen when approaching the city. The Sultan al-Nasir Muhammad ibn Qalawun Mosque is an early 14th-century mosque at the Citadel in Cairo, Egypt. It was built by the Mamluk sultan Al-Nasr Muhammad in 1318 as the royal mosque of the Citadel, where the sultans of Cairo performed their Friday prayers.
