| Lake Livigno is an artificial reservoir located between the Swiss and Italian borders. It was created thanks to the construction of the Gallo Dam in the years 1965-1968 by the Swiss hydroelectric company Engadiner Kraftwerke AG. The main objective of the dam was the production of electricity. Lake Livigno offers a breathtaking landscape and during the summer season it is possible to practice various recreational activities, such as excursions, fishing and water sports.
Contrary to what many people think, during the winter the lake is almost completely emptied and the water only remains near the dam. |
