| View from Notre Dame de la Garde in Marseille upon the old port and the Church of Saint- Ferréol les Augustins on the right. In the 12th century the Knights Templar commandery stood on the site of this church. After the suppression of the Order and the disappearance of its members, Augustinian monks bought the buildings in 1369. In 1542 they began building the gothic Saint- Ferréol les Augustins, but only completed in 1588.On the left the old city hall, a graceful example of the 17th-century architecture. |
