Now a symbol of Bristol the Clifton Suspension Bridge is based on an early design by Isambard Kingdom Brunel and spans the river Avon and Avon Gorge connecting Bristol with North Somerset. The structure is Grade I listed and first opened to the public on 8th December 1864.
