| After the Venetians ruled Dalmatia at the beginning of the 15th century, they built castles in the larger cities. The Split castle was built in 1441 and has only partially survived to this day. On the basis of the scientific processing of published works, historical sources and the results of archaeological research, the author presents new knowledge about the construction and transformation of the building and provides spatial reconstructions of the castle in five characteristic historical phases. |
