16:11 Image "VIEW OF THE TEMPLE OF ANTONINUS AND FAUSTINA"; 1758, FROM VEDUTE DI ROMA (VIEWS OF ROME). The extremely close vantage point makes this view of the Temple Antoninus and Faustina one of the most evocative etchings dedicated by Piranesi to the Roman Forum. It can be considered one of his most successful fusions of precise, analytical description and strikingly aesthetic, emotional presentation, thanks to the use of foreshortening and a perspective solution that places the viewer at the center of the scene. In the 7th century, a collegial church was established here dedicated to St. Lawrence, later known as de Miranda, in 1429, Pope Martin V suppressed the college and gave tire area of the temple to the Universitas Aromarariorum Urbis, the Roman College of Chemists and Herbalists.
