The Chinese Trionyx is a freshwater tortoise, a member of the three-clawed tortoise family, widely distributed in Asia. In some Asian countries it is eaten and is the object of industrial breeding. Medium sized turtle. Carapace up to 23 cm long. Coloration from olive green to olive gray, without spots or with small black spots of stellate or irregular shape. The plastron is snow-white to pinkish-white in color, unpatterned or with relatively small round or oval markings that are absent under the leathery rim of the carapace. There are several scattered light or dark markings on the head and neck.
