The title page features an elegant chessboard diagram showing the standard starting position with all pieces properly arranged. Published in Paris, the book was sold at the author's location on Rue Paradis-Poissonnière 8 and at Café de la Régence on Rue Saint-Honoré 161, a famous Parisian chess café that was a historic gathering place for chess masters and intellectuals. The ornate decorative border and classical typography reflect 19th-century French publishing aesthetics, while the circular postal stamp suggests this copy has historical provenance.
