The Tripod fish (Triacanthus biaculeatus) is a dusky silver, marine fish from the Indo-West Pacific, known for its benthic lifestyle on sandy muddy seafloors and a yellow tail fin. Also called the short-nosed tripod fish or helicopter fish in some areas, it is a commercial species sold fresh and used in Chinese medicine. It grows to about 25 cm, possessing a prominent spinous dorsal fin with a very dark membrane.
