Santiago, June 21 de 2013. Loncos community chiefs, Machis religious lider and representatives of mapuches communities from Santiago, had a meet at the National History Museum to celebrate “We Tripantu” in downtown Santiago. The We Tripantu is a holy day for the Mapuche. It is the shortest day of the year, corresponding to the beginning of the cold season. This day a number of activities accompanied by instruments like trutruca the pifilca, and cultrún plus a dance, and a set of purum or crooked palín performed.
