Pictured is a monumental clock tower in the courtyard of of the Alabaster mosque situated in the Citadel of Cairo, Egypt. The clock tower was presented to Muhammad Ali by King Louis Phillipe of France around 1836-1840. The mosque was built in memory of Tusun Pasham, the eldest son of Muhammad Ali, who died in 1816. This mosque, along with the citadel, is one of the landmarks and tourist attractions of Cairo. The architect was Yusuf Boshnak and it was completed in 1848. |
