| Male doll and participants of the Kawagoe Festival on top of a float decorated with paper lanterns. The festival with a history of more than 360 years is the major event in Koedo ("Little Edo") Kawagoe attracting huge numbers of spectators. Beautifully decorated and very tall festival floats carrying excuisitely crafted dolls are paraded through town. In the evening musicians on the the floats compete with each other in a musical battle between floats. |
