Fluorite (also called fluorspar or fluorine1) is a group III mineral (halogenides) according to the Strunz classification, formed by the combination of the elements calcium and fluorine, with the formula CaF2 (calcium fluoride).2 Its structure crystalline belongs to the cubic system, space group Fm3m and occurs with cubic, octahedral and rhombododecahedral habits. It is a mineral that presents physical properties of thermoluminescence and fluorescence (against ultraviolet light).
