The historic old city of Stralsund was added to the Unesco world heritage list in 2002. Only two of the formerly ten city gates of Stralsund are left. The Küter gate had its first recorded mention in 1281. The name comes from the old northern German word for butcher. Kueter gate and bastion are part of the fortification around the hanseatic town Stralsund.
