| Tea, tea bush, or Chinese tea (Camellia sinensis L.) Kuntze) is an evergreen, branched shrub of the genus Camellia. In cultivation, it does not exceed 0.5â1.5 m in height, but in the wild it can reach 10 meters or more. The leaves are alternate, elongated-oval, entire, 6â7 cm long, 3.5â4 cm wide, sharply toothed, dark green above, light green below with a short petiole, sometimes with a forked apex and a broadly wedge-shaped base. The flowers are regular, solitary or 2â5 in the leaf axils the petals are white, less often pink. The fruit is a capsule. It blooms in June and July. |
