Taughannock Falls plunges 215 feet past rocky glacial gorge cliffs that tower nearly 400 feet above the creek gorge. It is the highest single-drop waterfall east of the Rocky Mountains. Taughannock Falls 215-foot drop is 33 feet taller than Niagara Falls. The waterfall and gorge are a hanging valley, formed where Taughannock Creek`s stream-carved valley meets the deeper glacially carved valley that contains Cayuga Lake. Located near Ithaca in Trumansburg in the NYS Finger Lakes region |
