The past 12-years this lot has set vacant and gated off to what was once a major flow of traffic to an experimental retail outlet that by all measures was a great success. Now, the flora in the island flower beds is home to weeds and natural prairie grasses for a few more weeks. The seed will be scattered by the wind, but where that seed ends up will most likely be a coroner of the vast 26-acre parking lot. As excavating equipment arrives, the trapped seed will be loaded into long bed dump trucks to be carried off as fill dirt. Yet, that seed will live to grow somewhere else. Nature carries on at all cost.
