| The Wedded Rocks, are two sacred rocks in the ocean near Futami, a small town along the coast of Ise City (Mie, Japan). In Shinto belief, the rocks represent the union of creator gods Izanagi and Izanami. Thus celebrating the union in marriage of man and woman. The shimenawa rope connecting the two weighs over a ton. The larger rock, said to be male, has a small tori at its peak. |
