The Sunflowers, is one of the seven paintings created by Van Gogh to express the friendship, which ended, however, tragically, towards Paul Gauguin. The painting belongs to a series made up of seven works called the Arles Sunflower Series. All the paintings depict a bouquet of sunflowers inside a vase. The works were created to decorate the room that Van Gogh had prepared in the Arles house for the painter Paul Gauguin. In fact, Van Gogh's brother Theo had convinced the painter to join Vincent for a fee. In fact, Gauguin did not like the Mediterranean province or coexistence with the painter with a difficult character. So, after a few months, following a quarrel, Gauguin decided to leave and Van Gogh, in desperation, performed an act of self-harm, cutting off his earlobe.
