| THE SUN PARAKEET ALSO KNOWN IN AVICULTURE AS THE SUN CONURE IS A MEDIUM SIZED,VIBRANTLY COLORED PARROT NATIVE TO NORTHEASTERN SOUTH AMERICA.THE SUN CONURE IS A BASE COLOR OF RICH ORANGE AND YELLOW.THEY HAVE GREEN WING COVERTS, PRIMARIES AND TAIL,WHILE THE SECONDARIES AND TAIL TIP ARE DARK BLUE.SCARLET FEATHERS SURROUND THE EAR AREA. THE EYE PATCH IS WHITISH, WITH DARK IRIES AND A DARK GRAY BEAK.THIS SPECIES IS CURRENTLY THREATENED BY LOSS OF HABITAT AND TRAPPING FOR PLUMAGE OR THE PET TRADE. |
