| The main ancient thoroughfare, in Stromness, on the Orkney islands. Built originally for pedestrians and horses, but occasionally by cars, much of the old town streets are like this. Stromness is in the south-west of the Orkney mainland, and is the second largest town after Kirkwall, also it was the home of the famous Scottish poet, George Mackay Brown. |
