Historic Strasburg Railroad is Americaââ¬â¢s oldest continuously operating railroad since 1832.
On average, most engines use a half ton of coal, and 1,000 gallons of water for the 45-minute train ride trips. Located in Strasburg and Pennsylvania Dutch Country. Chartered in June 1832, the Strasburg Railroad began serving the community of Strasburg with both freight and passenger service in antebellum America when covered wagons and canals were still commonplace. Lancaster Countyââ¬â¢s centuries-long anachronistic Amish and Mennonite culture is juxtaposed with the countyââ¬â¢s role in developing the nationââ¬â¢s transportation systems. |
