The monastery is on the sea from of the tiny village of Panormitis on the southern coast of the Island of Symi. The monastery was built in the 18th century and is Venitian in style with a high baroque bell tower and white facades. The inner courtyard has its own church along with stunning hokhlaki courtyards that took years to build. It has its own museum and you can climb the stairs to tiered rows of of cells that still house the monks
