| Madrid`s cathedral, the Cathedral de la Almudena, full name is Santa Maria la Real de la Almundena, took more than 100 years to complete. Construction of the Cathedral began in the 1800`s but work was not completed until 1993 when the Cathedral was consecrated just by Pope John Paul ll. That is why the bronze statue of the Pope John Paul II was dedicated in 1998 in front of the Cathedral. |
