This is a Fall picture of the Starved Rock Lock & Dam located on the Illinois River at Utica, Illinois in LaSalle County. The Lock & Dam is one of five original navigation Lock and Dam structures that are part of the Illinois Waterway. The dam consists of a series of Tainter gates and a small hydro-electric plant built with four generators. The Lock is 600 foot long and 110 feet wide to accommodate a nineteen foot drop in water level. The structure was built in 1933. This picture was taken on November 9, 2016.
