| Stanborough Park, also known as Stanborough Lakes, is a 126-acre (0.51 km2) park located in Welwyn Garden City, Hertfordshire, England.The park boasts two lakes, which were more recently opened in 1970. They are artificial and were constructed due to gravel extraction during the construction of the A1(M) motorway. However, the idea of a riverside park had been contemplated since the city's Master Plan of 1949. The entire park is entirely man-made, originating from an old quarry site that formed the lakes and the surrounding hills. |
